What is the Science of Reading?

The Science of Reading is a body of research spanning decades that shows us how the brain actually learns to read. It tells us that reading is not natural — it has to be taught, and it has to be taught well. Effective reading instruction includes explicit, systematic phonics, phonemic awareness, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension — delivered in a structured sequence that meets every learner where they are. At Learning to Learn, LLC, everything we do is grounded in this research.
